Last weekend the boys went caving with their scout group. These are the pictures from when they came out of the cave... just a little muddy.
The cave is about 45 miles away and there's a 20 minute hike to it (that I was not properly dressed for in my shorts and flip-flops). The entrance is a hole about 2 or 2.5 feet in diameter and you have to go in feet first. It's dark of course so they had to wear headlamps on their helmets. There were all kinds of cave formations, like straws, popcorn, bacon, curtains and stalactites.
They were nervous about it all week and were adamant that they were not going... but we made them. I figured it was going to be one of those things that they grow up and say they're glad we made them or they will say they're mad we made them. Either way we made them... experiences like this don't come along very often. I am very happy to report that they are GLAD!! They both really liked it and said it wasn't anything like they had expected. They even said they'd go again (since you said you'd like to go caving...you'll get your chance Dad! The man on the end is 6' 3"-ish, you'll be fine). We ate lunch there and then headed home. A very cool day.
